Tours | Beaufort County
On July 5th, the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy and Archaeology team will partner with South Carolina 250 (SC250) to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution with a special walking tour honoring Beaufort County’s often-overlooked role in the war. Led by archaeologist Katie Epps, the 1.8-mile tour will guide attendees through Palmetto Bluff’s historic cemeteries while exploring the region’s deep—and sometimes violent—ties to America’s fight for independence.
“Palmetto Bluff has stories to tell,” says Epps. “This event brings to light the personal conflicts that shaped the Revolutionary War in the Lowcountry.”
To find out about Palmetto Bluff’s surprising past, and those who lived there during the Revolutionary War, please join Katie Epps on July 5, 2025. This special event costs $40 per person and proceeds will be used for cemetery restoration work in Palmetto Bluff cemeteries. Space is limited. To register, email info@pbconservancy.org. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required. Light refreshments will be served.
