| 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Exhibits | Charleston County

Be a part of a nationally collaborative work of art and digital storytelling project to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Artists and brothers Steven and William Ladd have been selected by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to have a major exhibition taking over their entire campus in 2026 for their National Scrollathon project to be the anchor project for America’s 250th birthday. The Gibbes Museum of Art is proud to be South Carolina’s representative institution for this national collaborative art project with the John F. Kennedy Center, museums, and cultural institutions across the country.

The National Scrollathon is a collaborative art-making effort with communities across America. When complete, over 56 large scale textile artworks will be displayed across the Kennedy Center campus along with the photographic portraits of the thousands that helped to create them. The Scrollathon’s goal is to bring people together, with the firm belief that art has the power to change lives.
