*Part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative by the Georgetown County Library,” Steve Williams will explore crucial contributions of African Americans to the Revolution. Williams is an award-winning columnist and prolific author who unearths the treasures of Georgetown County’s African American heritage. Among several other titles, Williams is the author of Ebony Effects: 150 Unknown Facts about Blacks in Georgetown, SC, a book that has been reprinted multiple times, and As I Travel Along: The Story of Harriet Tubman and James Bowley.
The project is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
