*Part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative by the Georgetown County Library,” the ever-popular Lee G. Brockington will bring our series to a grand finale with her fascinating presentation on conflicts between Patriots and Loyalists right here at home in Georgetown County. An author and cultural historian, Brockington is a signature figure when it comes to her knowledge of the intricacies of Georgetown County’s multifaceted history. Her books include Plantation Between the Waters: A Brief History of Hobcaw Barony; Pawleys Island with Steve Roberts; and the new edition of Pawleys Island: Stories from the Porch. For decades, she served as Senior Interpreter of History for The Belle W. Baruch Foundation at Hobcaw Barony, and Brockington continues to deliver public educational presentations on a range of topics of local and area interest, while also leading history-based tours of important area sites by land and by water.
The project is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
