Join the Allendale County 250 Committee at its month-long American Revolutionary War in South Carolina exhibit – on loan from the South Carolina State Museum – at USC Salkehatchie from January 3-26. The exhibit features artifacts, panels and interactive elements. Visit from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and during special weekend events. Admission is free.
Kicking off the exhibit will be a Meet and Greet with dignitaries and sponsors on Friday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m., featuring SC250 Chairman General William Grimsley. Attendees can look forward to a reenactment and a living history program focused on the 2nd South Carolina Regiment with another presentation to take place Saturday, Jan. 4 after the unveiling of the Burton’s Ferry Historical Marker and before the “Free People of Color in the American Revolution” presentation.
In addition, the County Committee will host film screenings celebrating American Revolutionary War heroes. These screenings will include “All for Liberty” and “Echoes of Freedom: Heroes of the American Revolution” at the Carolina Theater in Allendale.
