Lee County 250 is excited to announce the speaker, Tom Elmore, for our Tuesday, February, 26 meeting at 6pm at the City County Complex. Tom grew up in Columbia, SC and holds a BA in History and Political Science from the University of South Carolina. He is the author of 5 books about South Carolina in the 19th century as well as numerous articles in regional and National publications. Tom has lectured across the Mid-Atlantic states and has been a book reviewer for two national magazines. He is the current State Historian for the Ancient Order of Hibernians. His knowledge of the history of the Irish, Scot-Irish, and Scots in the midlands of South Carolina from the 1730’s to today is unsurpassed. Tom is on the S.C. Humanities Speaker Bureau, a member of the Richland County 250 Committee, the Robert Burns Society of the Midlands, and the Scottish Clan Davidson. He is an engaging speaker, so whether or not you have Hibernian ancestry, you will enjoy Tom’s PowerPoint lecture. His history books will be available at our meeting.
