*Part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative by the Georgetown County Library,” South Carolina Institute of Archaeology & Anthropology Research Professor Steven D. Smith will use recent archaeological findings to shed new light on how the community of Snow’s Island aided General Francis Marion, known as the “Swamp Fox,” to successfully implement his evasive guerrilla tactics against British and Loyalist troops in our area of South Carolina.
The project is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
