Remember the Ladies! Women of the American Revolution with Keynote Speaker Margaret Pickett

July 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join The Charleston Museum and the local chapters of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) as we celebrate and recognize the vital contributions of women during the American Revolution. Learn more about South Carolinian heroines, such as Eliza Lucas Pinckney, Rebecca Motte, and Susannah Smith Elliott, who played an essential role in shaping US history.

This event will begin in the Museum’s Arthur M. Wilcox Auditorium with keynote speaker Margaret Pickett, author of Rebecca Brewton Motte, American Patriot and Successful Rice Planter.

Following the keynote, Pickett will be joined by Christina Butler (American College of the Building Arts) and Virginia Theerman (Curator of Historic Textiles, The Charleston Museum) for a discussion about the contributions of female patriots and their impact during the American Revolution, followed by an audience-led question and answer session.

SCDAR Volunteer Genealogists will also be in attendance to assist attendees with questions regarding DAR membership, lineage research and to provide resources to connect families to their historical roots.

Registration is encouraged. This lecture is FREE for Members of NSDAR and The Charleston Museum and FREE for the public.
