The purpose of this project is to identify
(1) South Carolina men of color
(2) who were free at the time of their service and
(3) who had verifiable military service during the Revolutionary War (1775-1783).
For purposes of this research, South Carolina may be the birth place or residence of the Patriot, pre- or post-war year
