Chester County
Chester County was the site of four major Revolutionary War battles in 1780: Beckham’s Old Field, Rocky Mount, Fishing Creek, and Fish Dam Ford. These clashes reflected the county’s strategic importance along the Catawba River, where the British established an outpost at Rocky Mount to control vital routes. Local Patriots mounted fierce resistance, and their efforts helped weaken Loyalist influence and secure Chester County’s place in America’s fight for independence.
