Berkeley County

Website: https://www.berkeley250.org/

Berkeley County played a pivotal role in the American Revolution, serving as the site of more than thirty battles and skirmishes, including significant engagements at Monck’s Corner, Fort Fair Lawn, and Biggin Church. Patriot leaders such as Francis Marion, known as the “Swamp Fox,” relied on the area’s swamps and waterways to conduct effective guerrilla campaigns against British forces. Today, preserved battlefields and historic sites throughout Berkeley County continue to honor and interpret this rich Revolutionary War legacy.
