Concert honoring America’s first ally

On Thursday, October 15, the French Protestant (Huguenot) Church of Charleston will welcome Jared Lamenzo for a performance on its historic 1845 Henry Erben organ. The celebrated organist and director of music at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in Manhattan, Lamenzo will present a program tracing three centuries of French organ music—from the ornamented grandeur of the Baroque era, through the clarity of the Classical era, to the lush colors of the Romantic era. The repertoire is perfectly suited to an instrument built within those same traditions. Lamenzo will be joined by New York City violinist Lavinia Pavlish for an evening that promises both virtuosity and intimacy.

The concert begins promptly at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reception in the courtyard at 44 Queen Street. Admission is free and open to the public, so mark your calendar now. And be sure to bring a friend.
