Francis Goes To Disney Land- Walt Disney’s Swamp Fox Series

In 1959 Walt Disney debuted an eight part series about the life of Francis Marion. Credited as being based on Dr. Robert Bass’ (then a professor at Furman University) biography “The Swamp Fox,” it starred Leslie Nielsen in the title role. For many viewers this was their first introduction to Marion.

However getting “The Swamp Fox” on television was almost as hard as it was to catch the partisan leader. Tom Elmore tells is the story behind the scenes of the making of the show which involves Davy Crockett, The House Un-American Actives Committee and the Canadian Government. Elmore will show some rare images that have never been published to tell this almost forgotten part of Disney history.
