Join the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and community partners for a public panel discussion on the Dicey Langston Project, a new narrated orchestral work inspired by South Carolina Revolutionary War heroine Laodicea “Dicey” Langston. In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the project brings together composer Peter B. Kay, local educators, and civic leaders—and includes creative contributions from a cohort of local teenage girls invited to help shape the work.
Panelists include Peter B. Kay, arts educator Kristin LaRoy, professor Courtney Tollison, Travelers Rest Mayor Brandy Amidon, and Greenville Symphony Music Director Lee Mills. Panelists will explore Dicey Langston’s legacy, the process of transforming history into music and narrative, and how youth collaboration is informing this new commission ahead of its world premiere performances on April 25–26 in Greenville. Free and open to the public.
