Local Activities Grants
Grant Overview
One of the grant types available is the Local Activities Grant. These grants are intended to provide seed money for local Revolutionary War activities. This could include public art, performances, living history, presentations, or more. SC250 encourages communities to be creative and make their celebration unique to their community.
SC250 prefers events with impact beyond one day. Think recurring. Think digital or streaming. Think about creating a template for other communities.

Grant Requirements
Grantees are required to conceptualize, plan and execute public events and activities centered around the Revolutionary Era in your community including, but not limited to:
- Events Celebrating Local Revolution Era People, Places, and Events
- Living History Activities or Dramatic Presentations
- Host Genealogy Programming
- Develop Programs Helping to Rediscover the often lost voices of African Americans, Native Americans, Women, and Children
- Tours of Revolutionary Era Sites in your Community
- Memorialize your hero/heroines’ American Revolution actions with statues, markers, art, etc.
- Art Projects related to the American Revolution in SC and specifically your Community
- Host Speakers, Living History Presenters, & Authors or Hold a Panel Discussion on American Revolution (1770-1783) in SC Topics.
- Sponsor a Competition for Local Students. It could be anything from writing an essay to creating a social media post around the American Revolution theme.
- Plant a “Liberty Tree” in memory of all those who died fighting for freedom during the American Revolution.
- Develop Children-Friendly Programs that include songs, games, and crafts that would have been popular among children during the American Revolution.
- Sponsor Home and Garden Tours of Historic Homes with Revolutionary Era roots.
- Organize a Sestercentennial Festival with music, food, and games.
- Marketing of American Revolution Sites or Anniversary Activities in your Community

- Where will the event/activity take place?
- Who is your target audience?
- What are the details of the event/activity?
- How will you go about planning the event?
- Who is hosting or leading the activity?
- What stakeholders are you bringing together to make this event happen?
- If the activity is part of a larger project, briefly describe those plans to provide context for how this application satisfies a certain section of a larger endeavor. However, make sure you are clearly defining what deliverables will be the end result of this grant funding if approved. What scope of work is part of this application? Activities funded by grants must retain a focus on the American Revolution in SC and creatively provide for audience involvement or access to materials.
