Anderson County

During the Revolutionary War, present-day Anderson County was part of South Carolina’s backcountry, where Patriot and Loyalist forces frequently clashed. Local militia resisted British control, shaping the fight for independence. Among them was General Robert Anderson, a Patriot leader and surveyor, whose service later inspired the county’s name.
