Celebrating 250 Years of American Music

April 19 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Free

Celebrating 250 Years of American Music is a musical presentation tracing the evolution of American music from the Revolutionary era to the present day. The program features county singers of all ages, including members of community church choirs, gospel groups, veterans’ choirs, and individual performers, accompanied by local musicians and guided by experienced music educators and choir directors.

The repertoire includes sacred, secular, and patriotic music, with special focus on works from the Revolutionary period (1770–1783). These selections highlight the role of music in shaping colonial identity, expressing shared values, and supporting unity and resilience during South Carolina’s fight for independence.

Through performance and interpretation, the program connects audiences with the cultural and historical context of the era while showing how the music of the Revolution continues to influence American musical traditions today. This event offers a meaningful opportunity for reflection, education, and community celebration.
