Permanent Revolutionary War Monument Dedication
As a part of America’s 250th Anniversary, Bamberg County will dedicate a Revolutionary War monument on June 27th, 2026, at 11:00 am, bringing together community, military representatives, and guests for formal remarks and observances honoring the legacy of the Revolutionary War.
The monument is based on careful research and presents the documented names of Revolutionary War participants from the Bamberg County region, including African American and Native American individuals from across the state whose contributions have often been recorded only in limited or fragmentary form.
The event will also include the unveiling of an original sculpture by renowned brick artist Brad Spencer, which depicts two soldiers, one Black and the other White, standing back-to-back in quiet vigilance, each supporting the other. This image reflects the shared risk, shared purpose, and the reality that America’s founding was never a single story.
