Requiem for a Warrior

May 3 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Free

In celebration of SC250 Charleston, The Catholic University of America Benjamin T. Rome School of Performing Arts is proud to present the South Carolina premiere of Timothy Dusenbury’s Requiem for a Warrior on May 3 at Summerall Chapel on the campus of The Citadel at 1 PM.

Recognized as one of the most compelling Requiem settings composed by an American composer in recent years, the SC250 Charleston performance of Requiem for a Warrior weaves Dusenbury’s powerful musical score with historical letters written by Charleston’s Revolutionary War patriots. Through this integration of music and primary source texts, the performance offers audiences an immersive artistic experience that brings to life the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and resilience that shaped Charleston’s earliest history and contributed to the founding of our nation.

This event serves not only as a commemorative tribute to the heroes of the Revolutionary era, but also as a living act of remembrance—honoring those who serve today in defense of our communities and country. By presenting this work in Charleston, where so much of the story unfolded, the performance deepens public engagement with local history, fosters civic reflection, and strengthens connections between past and present through the transformative power of the performing arts.
