“The American Revolutionary War in South Carolina” exhibit (“A Glorious Cause” series)

During June and July 2026, “The American Revolutionary War in South Carolina,” a traveling exhibit from the South Carolina State Museum, will be on free public display at the Georgetown Library (405 Cleland Street, Georgetown, SC 29440). The exhibit will be located by the Circulation Desk during regular operating hours (Monday-Friday: 9:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. / Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) as part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative by the Georgetown County Library.”
South Carolina played a significant role during the American Revolution, where over 200 engagements (battles and skirmishes) took place, more than any other colony during the war. This exhibit highlights major battles that took place in South Carolina, including the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, the Cherokee Attack, and the Battle of Cowpens, as well as the role that African Americans and women played in the war.
“A Glorious Cause” is made possible by an LSTA grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the South Carolina State Library.
The exhibit is free & open to all.
